Mathmos Astro Baby Lava Lamp
Product info
The second lava lamp designed by Edward Craven Walker in 1964, handcrafted in the UK ever since. This is a thinner, sleeker and smaller version of the Astro. The whole lava lamp boom started in UK when the inventor of the device, Edward Craven-Walker walked into a pub and saw a weird device behind the counter. It was a glass coctail mixer that had a strange blob of fat floating in the liquid inside. The bartender told him that it was his egg timer - when the fat had melted and rose on the surface, the eggs were ready.
Edward had the idea that by using a thicker oil and placing a lamp underneath, the machine could be commercial success. The rest is history.
Each Mathmos bottle is filled by hand with a unique, proprietary lava mixture known only by Mathmos. This method is proven to give the lava the best possible shape, brighter colors and longer lifespan. The base and the cap of the Astro Baby are hand-machined and polished by experts, and then inspected and tested comprehensively. This results in best possible quality. Mathmos lava lamps are the best in the world.
